Check your table to see if the table is set for Page level locking. (dbschema in v5 does NOT report this info, you need to check the locklevel column in systables P=Page, R=Row, and B=??? (for system tables)) Page locking is the default, but it can cause the problems you described. You can change the locking granularity using the ALTER TABLE statement.
