multi-user problem

Running version 1.10 under UNIX, I find that when user A is adding say - 100 rows into orderdetail, if user B tries to save an order as well, they get aerror and lose everything they've entered. I would have thought that the row level locking would allow for multiple, simultaneous inserts. I've handled it so far with: whenever error continue label AGAIN: insert into orderdetail values (blah,blah,blah) if status then goto AGAIN end ifwhenever error stop This worked fine with just users A & B, but now I have C, D & E as well in order entry, plus inventory control and shipping and they are all spending WAY too much time waiting for their information to insert. BTW, this is all happening in transactions. Is there anything I can do to speed up this process without going to a product like ONLINE? Financial considerations are a MAJOR point with this client, and currently, a software upgrade is out of the question.
