You must create the "enter.txt" with the following:
1) copy con enter.txt
<ENTER>
<CONTROL-Z>
This will create a file (enter.txt) containing nothing but an ENTER.
You can then do ontape -s -L 0 < enter.txt. Here is the script I use on
NT, after creating the enter.txt file:
set INFORMIXDIR=e:\\informix
set INFORMIXSERVER=commissions
set ONCONFIG=onconfigcopy f:\\infwork\\ARCHIVES\\DAILY4 f:\\infwork\\ARCHIVES\\DAILY5
copy f:\\infwork\\ARCHIVES\\DAILY3 f:\\infwork\\ARCHIVES\\DAILY4
copy f:\\infwork\\ARCHIVES\\DAILY2 f:\\infwork\\ARCHIVES\\DAILY3
copy f:\\infwork\\ARCHIVES\\DAILY f:\\infwork\\ARCHIVES\\DAILY2
copy f:\\infwork\\ARCHIVES\\DUMMY f:\\infwork\\ARCHIVES\\DAILY
e:
cd E:\\share\\infwork\\bat
date < enter.txt >>ontape_s.log 2>>ontape_s2.log
ontape -s -L 0 < enter.txt >>ontape_s.log 2>>ontape_s2.log

Not heard of doing it that way before, Daniel. Try this one, it
sounds
easier:
echo "\\n\\n" | ontape -s -L 0

Subject: ontape
Hello ,
Working on a Digital Alpha runningWindows NT 4.0 sp 3 , we use
ontape -s -L 0 to backup our Informix 7.23TC1 database.
I want to use a "at" command to schedule the backup.
The problem I have is that the ontape needs a <newline> at the
command line
after asking for the tape.
Someone told me that I should use the following command :
ontape -s -L 0 < enter.txt where enter.txt is a file containing a <new line> character, but
this
doesn't work ( still waiting after asking for the tape )
Please help
