GoldenGate?

Has anyone heard of a Data Warehousing product called GoldenGate for Real-Time data Warehousing? I have a potential IDS customer who uses it for an Oracle-based data warehouse: one of their criteria is whether the chosen database integrates with this product. On the face of it, reading GoldenGate's blurb, IDS doesn't: "Heterogeneity - GoldenGate supports a wide range of database versions for Oracle, SQL Server, IBM DB2 OS/390 and UDB, Sybase, Enscribe, SQL/MP and SQL/MX, and Teradata running on UNIX, Windows, and HP Nonstop platforms, and can deliver data to any warehouse running on an ODBC compliant database". ... but if anyone knows differently, please let me know. Hi, Neil, They claim, that they do 'Log-based capture of new data transactions committed at the source database'. That is, this is not trigger-based replication (what most third-party replication vendors do), this is log-based replication - similar to Informix CDR/HDR/RSS/SDS. Obviously, the database vendor should provide a way to decode their transactions logs (which is platform-specific, version-specific). I don't believe, that they know how to read Informix Logical Logs. -Alexey -----Original Message----- From: informix-list-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:informix-list-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of Neil Truby Has anyone heard of a Data Warehousing product called GoldenGate for Real-Time data Warehousing? I talked to them a while back, I don't seem to recall that not supporting IDS was an issue. Might want to check their website. j. -----Original Message----- From: informix-list-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:informix-list-bounces@iiug.org]On Behalf Of Neil Truby Sent: Monday, January 28, 2008 6:53 PM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: GoldenGate? IBM was trying to work with them using a web sphere product.
