I've got more questions than answers. I think you are probably using the 7.30 IDS, Linux Edition software, but I'm puzzled; the 7.30 stuff uses the name libifasf.{a,so} rather than libasf.{a,so}. So maybe you're using the 7.24 ESQL/C that came with SE. Much the same comments apply whichever you are using. But please, always be specific about version numbers when you ask questions. The dlopen() etc functions are found in libdl.so on RedHat 5.2, and this library is listed in the SYSLIB variable (it contains -ldl) in the esql script in $INFORMIXDIR/bin. Are these functions available on S.u.S.E 6.0? In libdl.so? Somewhere else? You'll probably have to do some digging around if the answer isn't that they're in /usr/lib/libdl.so. Are you doing anything odd like forcing static linkage? That might account for some problems.
