John Schult <jdschult@premsys.com> offerred: :The default nettype of oniipcstr was installed with Netscape Suitespot. I am :assuming it is supported since NS is using it. The reason I want to use :onsoctcp is that it is the only appropriate protocol available to use in :Relational Object Manager (win32 app from informix) for connecting to the :server. : :So I can't use onsoctcp from my client? No, you can (and must) use soctcp on the windows side as windows doesn't support tli. But these do not have to match between the client and the server. It is the tcp part that is important. The interface lib to tcp just needs to be appropriate for the platform you are running on (i.e. soc or tli). As per the streams, I didn't say it wouldn't work, only that I had never tried it. Your error is definitely an indication that you are using the wrong nettype. Try using ontlitcp on the server side and see if it comes up ok. If so, the onipcstr should be ok.
