I have a client that is running on IDS 7.30.FC8 and Porting set 6.1b.05. Their performance is fine when running native Baan programs but when they run their custom programs, it drags. Does anyone have any suggestions?? I am an Informix DBA and not a Baan programmer so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/ Before you buy.
It's probably like most SAP installations. Most of the *really* inefficient code is custom developed, usually by developers who don't know the first thing about performance tuning. There's no shortcut that I know of for coding efficient algorithms and tuning poorly performing SQL. It's not uncommon to see anywhere from 40-80% of the load on the database of an SAP system generated by custom code. Baan is probably not much different. If it's causing enough pain, somebody will have to belly up to fixing it. Fortunately, inefficient SQL is usually pretty easy to fix. Does Baan have good instrumentation and tools for hunting down bad code and fixing it??
