Re: Oracle/Sybase/Informix/MS-SQL Server

I know I'm asking for it, but here it goes: Saying things like "NT Sucks." really doesn't say anything. NT and UNIX both have there place. NT is great for small to midsized LANs were all the clients are Windows/Win95. I know this from first hand experience. If you don't have first hand experience with NT (which I assume you don't) then you really don't have the right to bash it. I have some experience with UNIX but not enough experience to give an honest evaluation between it (them) and NT, so I don't. I can say that any small company that relies on Windows clients will be very happy using a NT server as a file/application server and network administration system. Any reasonably intelligent person who has used Windows can set up and manage an NT server (manage user accounts, manage print servers, etc.) with no additional training. In fact I didn't even need to open a book. All the instructions are on-line in build-in help files. I cannot say the same thing for UNIXs. That doesn't mean UNIXs suck. However, time is money, and I an very confident that companies that use Windows clients would be wasting money if they use UNIX. Also, NT does not require a full time administrator. Gordon E.
