Re: rc files and TBCONFIG

Craig, I think that adel wants to bring up start the engine automatically when he boots the machine. There are two ways to do this. First , write a script which first sets up your shell evironment variables. Test this script by bringing down online then running the script. Once you have a working script, do one of the following: 1) From your boot.rc file or rc2 or whatever boot file you use, call the script as the last thing you do. or 2) Place an entry in to the inittab. Just dont set the script to be respawned and make sure you set the appropriate init level. To be honnest, the second idea is best. Some versions of UNIX tend to be funny about what starts up and when. Oh, if you run AIX, its the recommended way. -Mikey Craig Kickel wrote: > > Hmmm, [Stuff deleted for brevity ...;-] > >Hi INFORMIX'ers > > > >why I can't set TBCONFIG in my rc2 file...? > >in my rc2 file I assigned TBCONFIG variable to other configuration > >file thant tbconfig, after booting when I issue tbmonitor > >I see the engine is offline, so I need to explicity set it > >TBCONFIG=tbconfig2; export TBCONFIG (which I have the same thing in > >my rc2 file). > >am I missing some thing.......? > >I'm running ONLINE 5 on SCO 3.2... > > > > ====================================================================== > Craig Kickel | Unix/C/Database Consultant > ckickel@cyberhighway.net | <This space intentionally left blank> > ======================================================================
