Does anyone know how to assign the UNIX environment variables to Informix 4GL program variables? For example: I have defined <CARETAKER=flee@nortelnetworks.com> in /etc/profile. In a 4GL program: ... DEFINE g_caretaker CHAR(50) ... How can I assign the value of $CARETAKER to g_caretake? Such that when we change the caretaker, we do not need to re-compile the 4GL program. Cheers, Fred Lee flee@nortelnetworks.com
Fred - You can use the 'fgl_getenv' function in 4GL as : let g_caretaker = fgl_getenv("CARETAKER"); HTH.
