onmode -z

I am unable to kill a session that is in 'begin work and critical session' (ouput of onmonitor --> Status --> userthreads) with onmode -z command. What could be the reason. The database is a development database and all the other sessions threads are waiting on checkpoint. (Do i separate the development database on to another chunk so that if it may happen the database may be shutdown) Ver IFX 7.13 UC1 Sun solaris 2.6 TIA Mukund
