RE: Informix, SQL Server or Oracle

Have you ever worked with O_~!@#$. OPS full install > 2.5 Gig with more than
45000 files. {Excluding data or install CD files}. Just to get backup
working, what a mission. No easy ontape, but use scripts, RMAN, Legato or
just leave it and start searching for a Informix job. Cant even do a "load
from file insert into table". Must use a tool to do this.
With O you need 2 DBA's to do the same job as one Informix DBA. SQL server
get the blue screen of death, and fired.
With Informix it is much easier to handle RAW {Even with 2Gig chunks}. O...
use something like LSM or Veritas. {Again extra money}
Platform Inf and O on just about any OS. Wont touch SQL server. Stay away
from NT that still tries to do what Unix did 10 years ago.
Remember no RAID5.

Having implemented a GIS both on Informix and Oracle, I would choose
Informix every time. The ease of configuration, loading data and the speed
of GIS queries, Informix won every time.
We used the GIS for mapping and 3D modelling of our ore bodies.
Cheers
