Is there a bug with 4gl v4.00 Multi Line fields ??

Fellow Informix'ers, I have a generic input p_recfrom s_rec.* where s_rec is a screen array, with one of the fields being a multi line field with WORDWRAP COMPRESS set. Now when the cursor moves to the long field, and I try entering text longet than the first line, it does not accept any more text and starts to beep. Do I have to do a infield(long_field) do_something_special within the input for the multiline editor to work as documented? Any and all responses appreciated.
