I understand your problem with having to use cocked files, since I once had to use half-cocked files which are twice as frustrating. Seriously, to answer your question, Informix logical drives cannot be any bigger than 2GB, and chunks cannot be any bigger than 2GB, but you can string several chunks together to make one large dbspace.
