BIG Problems with sqlturbo

Hi, Apologies for the re-post but we're in a spot of bother here. Core dumps every few seconds. I have two turbos going. One 16 bit, one 32 bit on the UNIX box they look like this: /informix/informix_live/lib/sqlturbo uss1xxx 5.01.WJ2 RDS#R123456 -p -fIEEEI DB (16 bit) and /informix/informix_live/lib/sqlturbo uss1xxx 9.201 RDS#N000000 -dlive_face -fIE (32 bit) Now, the 32 bit sqlturbo keeps core dumping. Can anyone tell me where the RDS#N000000 comes from and what relevance it has or has not?????? If anyone has any ideas about compatability issues with CLI2.8 (under Intersolv 3.11 driver) to a Informix V5 online engine, then that would be welcome too. Thanks, John Thank you, John Clynes

This is the serial number that someone used when he installed OnLine. It shouldn't have any relevance at all, except that it doesn't actually look like a valid number. The rest of the line doesn't look familiar to me either, but then, I don't know what you ran to get this information. Come to think of it, none of this makes any sense to me -- it looks like you're saying you have two versions of OnLine, a 16-bit and a 32-bit, both running on the same Unix box, with the same path, and different versions and serial numbers, and one of them is 5.01.WJ2 (isn't that for Windows?) I would add 'Please do not send spam to this account' but I suppose I would be wasting my bits.

When you connect to Online via I-Star, this is what you get for each sqlturbo
process spawned by a net connection. I don't know what the "-p" stands for,
on my machine (Siemens RM400, Online/Star 5.10) I get:
spitz 24389 4131 0 10:16:12 ? 0:00 /opt/lib/informix/lib/sqlturbo sp
itz 7.30.UC6 AAC#JXXXXXX -dedoges -fIEEEM DBPA
for a connection via "dbaccess" from a machine running IDS 7.30.UC6 (I
crossed out the actual serial#). The arguments to sqlturbo are user, client
version, client serial#, -d<database>, -f<floating point format> and then
the environment variables (passed by the client?) which are cut off by the
output of "ps -ef".
spitz 25496 4131 0 10:24:56 ? 0:00 /opt/lib/informix/lib/sqlturbo sp
itz 7.20.TD1A1 RDS#N000000 -dedoges -fIEEEI DB
is the output I get when connecting from a WinNT 4.0 machine using CLI 2.5
(very old, I know). I cannot remember whether I had to enter a serial#
when I installed it, but the "RDS#N000000" is what appears here. This is
also the serial# reported by Online itself, which is normal for the Siemens
OEM version of Informix, which doesn't use Informix's branding mechanism.
I'm afraid this doesn't help you at all with your coredump problems. Which
version of Online/Star are you using on what UNIX platform? Are you sure
that there isn't some problem with the client terminating the connection in
a way that I-Star cannot handle?
Regards, Richard
