I solved the problem by reinstalling ROM 2.1 in a different directory. If you do so, you will be asked whether the installation routine should update your INFORMIXDIR-entry in the registry. Negate that. Anyway the database-explorer will not work against an 9.12-engine, but you can use the sql-editor against both Dynamic- and Universal-Servers. hope that helps martin
