In 4GL -- can signify a comment. The "--+ordered" is being
ignored by the compiler. If you want to order the results
use an ORDER BY clause at the end of the query.

Subject: Using directives within Informix 4GL
Does anybody knows how to use directives within an Informix 4GL program
??
What I want to do is a query like this:
select --+ordered
* from a,b,c
where a.a = b.b
and b.b = c.c
The directive is not followed when the query runs. I can see that when
I use onstat -g sql or when I use sqexplain.
Is there any other special syntax to be used ???
Thanks

Stuart,
I'm not posting this on comp.databases.informix.
The --+ordered optimizer directive does not mean the same as "ordered by".
It means scan the joined tables in the same order that they appear in the
'from' clause.
