Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

hi all:
I got a few questions about kaio.
1. how do I know informix is using kaio instead of aiovp?
2. how do I turn kaio on if it is not on?
3. generally how much a performance boost do I get with kaio instead
of aiovp?
thank you.

onstat -g ioq will show a kio entry for each CPU vp you have defined. Ifyou're not using kaio, there won't be any kio entries. HP-UX will tell you
it's being used in the Online message log.

Use raw disk. On Solaris, it'll be used by default. On HP-UX you set an
environment variable before issuing your oninit (KAIOON=1), and you must
have the async drivers linked into the kernel.

Very difficult to quantify unless you actually set out to benchmark it. And
I never have.
