Informix Star/Net problem

I have a strange problem with our Informix installation here concerning client and server communication we have (want) a SunOS informix online server and a Solaris informix online client when i create a database with the client(net) the server(star) process named sqlexecd on the SunOS server dumps a core and the database files etc are created in my own directory .... nothing else on our server we only have set the INFORMIXDIR and the PATH in the environment and on the client INFORMIXDIR, PATH, DBPATH(to //servername), DBSERVER(the hostname and dbservername of the server) and SQLEXEC(to the sqlexec binary) apparently the program spawned by the sqlexecd process on the server crashes (file says the corefile produced on every client access to be from sqlexecd) the services map of our yellowpages has the two lines sqlexec 1527/tcp #infomix DB infstar 1526/tcp #informix DB had anyone the same problems or am i just missing something ;) many thanks in advance to anyone able to help chris
