OAT is not connecting to database server
Posted in 2017
A user reported that OAT could only connect to the Informix server when sqlhosts contained the IP address; using the hostname (even fully qualified) failed. Respondents suggested name-resolution problems: check that the hostname pings and resolves to the correct machine/IP, and in particular that the server's /etc/hosts doesn't map the machine name to 127.0.0.1, which would make the listener bind to localhost only — verifiable with netstat -an. The poster did not report back, so no confirmed resolution is recorded.

Thank you all who are responding and very active in IIUG. Hello, I am able to connect to database server through OAT only while i mention the IP address instead of hostname in SQLHOSTS file. but whlie using the hostname in SQLHOSTS file it is not connecting to database server. What is the solution for this.
Probably the hostname needs to be qualified. Art Art S. Try pinging and double check the name resolves to the correct machine Cheers Paul -----Original Message----- From: ids-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:ids-bounces@iiug.org] On Behalf Of MUKESH TANUKU Sent: Friday, June 30, 2017 7:35 AM To: ids@iiug.org Subject: Re: OAT is not connecting to database server [39484] I am giving the fully qualified hostname. but not connecting **************************************************************************** *** Forum Note: Use "Reply" to post a response in the discussion forum.
Yes, I've seen that. At one client the local hosts file had the machine name mapped to localhost while on the remote clients it had the correct hostname so the server wasn't actually listening on the network to it's actual IP address only to localhost. I have had this same problem too. Use netstat -an on the server to verify that the listener is running on the server's IP/port and not localhost (127.0.0.1). This could be the problem with your HDR connection too, but you said that you have fixed that.
