Re: shared memory problems

Hi John, if you are connecting to the server prior to allocating shared memory and you are using the onipcshm protocol to do so, then you may want to look at the INFORMIXSHMBASE environment variable. It is documented in the Informix Guide to SQL: Reference, along with a fairly detailed description of what may be causing the problem. Just curious - what Linux shared memory call returns NULL ? I would guess shmat(), but most implementations return either a valid address or -1, never NULL. I am a bit wary of this as the shared memory probably should be for use specifically by informix programs - and I am wary of lilo at the best of times :) > > In the onconfig file I have set > shmbase=0x1 > shmvirtsize=8000 > smadd=8192 > shmtotal=0 > > Am I missing something or is the truth somewhere out there!? > Thanks > John H.
