I have the explanation. CASE is now a keyword in 7.3. V7.3 added the
Oracle CASE clause syntax to the select statement. The qualification
of the tablename with owner name in the where clause resolves the
symantic conflict between the tablename and the WHERE clause CASE
sub-clause. If you add an alias to the tablename in the FROM clause
you will be able to use the simpler alias instead of the cumbersome
owner qualified tablename.
