If you don't use the shadow passwd file, you are fine. If you do use the shadow passwd file, you lose security. Ie anyone can log in as any user without supplying a password? Since I haven't seen RH 6.0, I don't know how they implemented the shadow passwd. Could either be a bug in Informix or RH. I'd bet Red Hat since Informix uses the standard UNIX security calls. I'll be getting my SuSE 6.1 sometime soon. (They are backlogged.) Lets see if the problem exists in other flavors of Linux. -Mikey BTW, Unless you need a "really" , "really" secure linux box, I'd skip the shadow passwd for right now.
