Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

We all know that, when using slice zero of a disk for a raw slice on
some operating systems, to skip the first cylinder(s), to which the
operating system writes the disk's VTOC. (Some of us found out the hard
way!).
Does anyone have a view on how many cylinders to skip? Is one adequate?
My question relates particularly to Solaris 2.4/2.5.
Thanks
