2GB Chunk & Extent Size Limit ?

Dear All, Sorry if this is has been asked before, but I can't understand the answers I have been getting ! Using Informix 5 or Informix 7, is the size of a chunk still limited to 2GB ? (We use HP-UX 10.10 and 10.2). If so, does this effectively restrict the size of an extent to 2GB as well (since one extent cannot span across chunks ?) ? I am having problems believing this - how do people maintain terabyte-sized databases without having more than the recommended limit of 8 extents ??? (I realise that there will be more than one table, but surely some tables must exceed the recommendation ?) Thanks for any info, Richard Ridley
