Given my employer, you won't be surprised to see me writing that AIX 4.1.5 has given me the best results. I run several versions of Informix-OnLine (7.13, 7.22.uc1a5, 7.22.uc1) on one machine, with around a dozen instances up at once. There are no problems with shared memory, aging, processor affinity or backup and restore (especially when using ON-Bar and ADSM, which is simply wonderful to use). Because AIX has the Logical Volume Manager, allocating raw disk space is easier than on some other unixes. I had one problem with AIX 4.1.3 and Online 7.22.uc1, where if you set it to use a large number of IOVPS (eg 25) it would sometimes not come online. One patch later to solve the problem (related to forking pthreads) and it was fine. As far as speed goes, I can't give much help. I have no complaints, though. Hope this information is useful. Danny
