Docs for Informix Dynamic Server 7.x

The "daemon" is one of oninit processes. You needn't any more daemons
to run, BUT You have to configure a listener thread for TCP protocol.
To do this you have to:
1. Add in your $INFORMIXDIR/etc/$ONCONFIG file a server alias
to your DBSERVERALIASES parameter.
2. Add in the same file a NETTYPE entry, wich might look like:
NETTYPE tlitcp,1,,NET 3. Make a entry in your $INFORMIXDIR/etc/sqlhosts file for the server
alias (see p.1). This entry should look like:
server_alias ontlitcp hostname servicename Where hostname is the host your Informix Server is running on
and servicename should be the name of a entry in your /etc/services
file. This entry should be like:
servicename port_number/tcp
port_number is the port number that you will specify in your
connection string (you could set it to 1533 if you like).
4. Restart the Informix server.
You can check that Informix Server is listening to the specified port
using "netstat -a" command.
Hope this help,
