This really isn't true. I'd still maintain that from the point of view of
simplicity and reliability Informix's ontape takes some beating. But many
serious shops now integrate database backups into an overall backup manager,
and in this respect - and I think here particualrly of HP's Data Protector
(nee Omniback) - you'll probably find the Oracle/SQL Server/DB2 integration
superior to that of Informix.

And more and more I am seeing large shops not using tape.
The cost of tape vs inexpensive hard disks, if anything, favors the
disks not to mention they are both faster and more secure. I see
more and more people rotating hard disks rather than tapes.
