This comes up from time to time. There are news groups for this, but some recruiters are drawn to the skills-specific groups for obvious reasons. In the past there have been as many people who want to see job postings as those who do not. The end result being that job postings continue. I for one don't mind them being here. However, I would REALLY like the professional recuiters to act a little more professional and, perhaps, establish a convention for the subject line so that people who really, really don't like the ads or those of us who are not interested, can filter them out. Any recruiters listening? Could you always make the first word in the subject "JOB:". A standard format like "JOB: city - job title", would allow your audience to see at a glance what the posting is about. And, with such "net etiquette", you wouldn't irritate half your audience. You would be more professional and, therefore, maybe not avoided when someone does begin a job search in the future.
