If you are fetching into a char type in CLI, ESQL/C, or 4GL this is automatic, just FETCH the integer or float column into a char host variable that is long enough to hold any possible value of the column. If you want this in dbaccess, you already have it! Dbaccess ONLY outputs character data, using this feature itself. Art S. Kagel
