If you are extracting data to feed another system, you might be better off UNLOADing the data on Unix and then just FTPing the file to NT. If you are reporting, you may need some indexes, or you may need to run bcheck on the existing indexes to repair corruption. Finally, you do not mention your hardware/OS platform. There could be some specifics to consider there. A quick example is that your Unix hard drive might be full.
