I have to restore a database from archives which were written with ontape.
The restore tapes are a couple of years old and I don't know anything
about the layout of the database at this time ( dbspaces, onconfig etc).
Is there any way to re-create a database based on this tapes only.
Any ideas will be welcome

If you dd the archive and pipe it to strings, you'll get some idea of the
onconfig file, anbd the location of the rootdbs. If you then re-create the
rootdbs and start an ontape -s you will be presented with an onstat -d
layout of the tape version of the server. You can note this down, quit the
restore, set up the chunks needed and re-do the restore.
