How to create DB using ODBC client?

Hi, I'm a programmer using CLI 2.5 in Solaris platform, and i encounter a problem that i must specify the database when i want to make a connection to DB server, that is, i must specify the database name in my DSN description in my .odbc.ini file. Is there any way to avoid this? because i want to use statement like "database cookdb exclusive" to open a exclusive session to the database , if i specify the database, CLI will raise an error, because i have already opened the database in this session. And i also want to use sql like "create database", but it also have the same error. So, can anyone help me? Thanks in advance! chen
