IDS.2000 and Foundation.2000 allow table names up to 128 characters, and user names up to 32 characters. All earlier versions use the limits 18 and 8 respectively. > Stefano Teodorani <s.teodorani@esasoftware.com> schrieb in im > Newsbeitrag: 81ipt6$o20$1@fe1.cs.interbusiness.it... > > Which is the maximum number of characters for table name in Informix > > > database ? Hi: Be careful, I recently encountered problems with isql/4gl when accessing table names more than 18 characters. INFORMIX-SQL Version 7.20.HE1 Software Serial Number ACN#J288413 DONOT HANDLE DB-Access Version 9.20.HC1 Software Serial Number ACN#J288408 OK INFORMIX-4GL Version 7.20.HE1 Software Serial Number ACN#J288410 DONOT HANDLE Jonathan has clarified that there will be some release of isql / 4gl to handle long names.
