Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Michael Andreas copied rows from Informix into Access with an INSERT ... SELECT over ODBC. After the server moved from 7.x to IDS 10 it always failed with Types incompatible. Jonathan Leffler asked about versions and column types, which were serial, integer, char and date. Copying row by row and column by column worked. No cause or fix was given.

Hi,
using the following SQL-Command I copy a lot of rows
from a INFOMIX DB (source) into a ACCESS DB (destination)
very fast:
INSERT INTO tab SELECT * FROM [ODBC;DSN=DB;UID=name;PWD=test;].tab WHEREtab_typ = 50;
After changing the IDS Server to version 10 I allways get the
message "Types incompatible". Why?
thanks michael

What was the previous version of IDS? 7.x? 9.x?
What types are in the table?

The types are serial, integer, and char.
If I copy the same recordset row by row and colum by colum
I dont get the error!
