dbexport on RSS Secondary

Im running IDS 12.10.FC6 on SLES 11 SP 4 with a primary and RSS secondary on
separate boxes. At http://www.oninit.com/presentations/v117.pdf I see the
following:
Enhancements To Dbschema, Dbexport & Dbimport
It is now possible to use the dbschema and dbimport utilities on all types of
secondary servers in a high-availability cluster.
The dbexport command can be run in a cluster environment but only on the
primary server, or on an RSS server where
STOP_APPLY and USELASTCOMMITTED have been set.
Ive set LOG_STAGING_DIR to $INFORMIXDIR/tmp and Im trying the following on
the RSS secondary:
# onmode -wf STOP_APPLY=1Value of STOP_APPLY has been changed to 1.
# onmode -wf USELASTCOMMITTED=ALLValue of USELASTCOMMITTED has been changed to ALL.
However, when I try running a dbexport, I get the following:
The operation cannot be performed on this readonly secondary server. Run this
command after
making the server updatable or run this at the primary.
I know that I can use Art Kagels myexport as a dbexport replacement, but Im
trying to understand why dbexport isnt working on my RSS secondary after I
set STOP_APPLY and USELASTCOMMITTED. From everything Im reading, it should
work.
blockquote, div.yahoo_quoted { margin-left: 0 !important; border-left:1px
#715FFA solid !important; padding-left:1ex !important; background-color:white
!important; } Last commited only works on secondaries if the secondary is
updatable. The reason is that if the secondary is updatable, then locks are
raised on the secondary. Last committed requires that locks exist because the
lock contains a pointer to the previous image of the row or index item.

Hello, James.
Try using onmode -wm instead.
Onmode -wf only changes the onconfig values, according to the official page:
https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/en/SSGU8G_12.1.0/com.ibm.adref.doc/i
ds_adr_0439.htm
It should work.
Best regards.
Atenciosamente,
Alexandre Marini

No, onmode -wf changes the parameter in memory AND in the ONCONFIG file
while onmode -wm ONLY changes the in memory copy.
Both modify the current behavior. The problem is that the RSS secondary
was in read-only mode. Dbexport is ONLY supported in writable SD and RS
secondaries.
