Block access via odbc

Hello Friends I need help with the following problem: I have a IDS engine hang on Linux platform. I would need to block the access to the databases (bbdd) via ODBC for "only" some users. These users have access for writing, erasing, update information, etc in the databases (bbdd) because they normal use these operations (via applications), but the problem is that if they are connected via ODBC (with your usear and pass)they can also perform other functions with the tables thus producing a security problem. I would appreciate any suggestion you can give me. Thanks
