Informix has a free program at: www.informix.com/idn that will allow you to download a full-fledged 7.30 engine with nothing crippled (just what you would have paid about $7K for last month) for development and implementation to registered developers. The product and 50 user-licenses are FREE. Download it, find a fast NT box and try it out. NT gets short shrift in this NG, but I have had wonderful success with it. I'm actually recommending it over HP/UX in many instances. My NT based data warehouse systems are manipulating up to 200G and performing on a par with UnixWare, HP/UX, and Solaris systems. I was once a UNIX bigot of the worst sort, and I still require that all my NT systems have the MKS UNIX toolkits so that I can have **real** utilities. MKS even has a Korn shell for NT: I run the same administration scripts against NT as I do against HP/UX. Don't let anybody convince you not to try it unless they have been through the process themselves and can show you reasons why it didn't work. I'm still a UNIX bigot, and "Damn you Bill Gates" still emanates from my office at least once a week, but the 7.30 on NT is a definite player. With the freebie offer, you can't lose by trying it out.
