Historically, most performance gains can > be found in the application itself. this is very true. it is an unfortunate situation here in that there are a *lot* of applications running, and i won't have much, if any, cooperation from various departments in reviewing applications. still, i would assume that a 7.X engine, in reasonable tune, should at least match the performance of a 5.X engine under the same loads. my overall impression is this: the system is running quite well, in a lot of cases at least as good as the 5.06 we were under, but multi-table queries are running *much* slower. i haven't really started looking into it yet, as there are higher priority things at the moment, i.e. contrary to my first post, my checkpoint times are wildly erratic, and so i have to look into things like that. > 2) Memory usage.
