Having Union clause in a view

Hi, I was getting a syntax error while creating a view that had 'union' clause. I was surprised to read from the manual that it is not possible were as this is possible in Ingres and Oracle. Is there any technical issues? I am willing to know why Informix cudn't provide this feature? Many thanks. Best regards .. Mahesh G.
