Are you on drugs?Bob Finocchio just stated that Informix is planning to ignore the *low end * market. That means that they are cutting their grass roots supporters off at the knees. All those of you who run SCO, guess what? You are going to have to find a new platform. (Ok, so its going to go to a *maintenance release*. Anyone who has been around long enough knows that it means forget any patches or bug fixes, unless you are willing to pay for it. Of course, this guy must have bought some shares based on the insider trading reports, two of them filled within the last month...... Yet I digress. Informix has just cut their grass roots support off at the knees. Unless you work for one of their big customers, or you have unique needs, and big bucks, they don't want to hear from you. You should read some of the Edgar Reports. Very interesting. For those of you who work for Informix, I'd look for other jobs. Plan on seeing more downsizing since Informix has just announced that they are going after a niche market and, well, they will be needed to continue to cut costs, and since they are ignoring the vast number of their customers and potential customers, You become overhead. I realize I am going to catch hell for this post, but hey FOAD! I am too tired to give a damn anymore. Oh, I do have one positive thing to say. Thanks to Mike Saranga, there now exists demographic data on corporate Linux users. Too bad for Informix though. Mike or Bob are just plain too busy to take the time to hear about it. I guess they don't care that they are missing out on a decent chunk of change. I wonder how other shareholders will react to that? Downsizing the company is great in the short term. But you can't expect to build a business on it. Just ask Bernie B. former CEO of Montgomery Ward. But ignoring untouched and wide open markets with no competition, Now that *really* builds shareholder value. Oh, Bob, when are you planning to offer your second offering? You know, the preferred stock? I wonder how the street will take it? -Cheers! and take what I say with a grain of salt. While I want Informix's stock to rise, I would rather see long term gains, not short term gains! Mikey
