While this is essentially correct, actually the type of COUNT(*) in Informix versions 7.10+ was changed to DECIMAL. Since Delphi does not directly support Informix's DECIMAL type it asks the engine to translate it to float. As you note you should be able to get Delphi to specify a translation to long integer.
