Isn't informix's general default for size, 8K?
So would not the bufferpool default line you showed mean there is an 8k
entry?

onconfig BUFFERS parameters are :-
#Following parameters are realted to the buffer pool
BUFFERPOOL
default,buffers=1000,lrus=8,lru_min_dirty=50,lru_max_dirty=60
BUFFERPOOL
size=4k,buffers=1000,lrus=8,lru_min_dirty=50,lru_max_dirty=60
BUFFERPOOL
size=2k,buffers=1000,lrus=8,lru_min_dirty=50,lru_max_dirty=60
Note NO 8k entry!!.....
