Yes,
I have DR up and running on two Sparc 20's with Solaris 2.4 with Online 7.11UC1
and it works fine most of them time.
As for setup you need two exact machines, same OS, same On-line with same setup
in dbspaces but this will change once they use CDR instead of HDR. Then you only
need to have the same Online version. CDR will be available in beta for 7.2 and
as an add on to 7.3 (according to Informix of course).
As for problems, I've only encountered two. We do a dbexport every night on the
secondary machine and once in a while Informix corrupts a date on a record. I
know this because the dbexport complains about the date format and then we have
to reinitalize DR. This isn't really a pain since an archive only takes 40
minutes to do, but it shouldn't happen. The other problem is that sometimes when
I bring down both servers and then try to bring them up I get an error on the
secondary server saying "Checkpoint Record not found in Logical Log", this
happens during logical recovery. Informix has admitted to a bug and they are
working on reproducing it.
I hope this helps.
