This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
User's logical log backup directory was full. They tried running ontape -a to back up logs to disk instead of tape, but kept getting tape mount prompts. Solution: use ontape -a -d flag for disk backups. User's final issue was a typo in the onconfig LTAPEDEV path (1210FC9 vs actual directory name 12.10.FC9), which prevented the backup from writing.

I haven't set up automatic backups of my logs yet, so while doing all this
troubleshooting, they have filled.
In the past, I have run ontape -a but now when I do that, it is asking me to
mount a tape, and hit continue, and of course, I just want them to write to
disk.
I have LTAPEDEV set in onconfig file to a path.
What am I missing here in my logic?
That prompt doesn't differentiate between tape/file/directory -> just hit
enter, it will tell you if it then doesn't find what it needs.
For directory backup you might have to add -d option...

use ontape -a -d
You can modify the resulting filename with the env var IFX_ONTAPE_FILE_PREFIX

When I run ontape -a -d
It says Performing automatic backup of logical logs
Please mount tape 1 on /opt/informix1210FC9/log_backups and press Return to
continue ...
could not write log tape.
Any ideas as to why that is?

I figured it out. My directory was named 12.10.FC9 and in my onconfig file, I
had 1210FC9
WOW. That was a dumb mistake...
Thanks for the information though. That will help me in the future.
