Caching tables in shared memory

Hi Gurus, Here are a few questions regarding caching of frequently accessed table in shared memory. During a recent setup , I found that in my code a few of the tables were accessed very frequently. These are master tables and this particular module need not do any updates on these tables. Also , the data in these tables in static. 1. Would caching the data help in improving performance ? Would Informix caching be enough ? Is it better to read the data in global array and then go on with life ? 2. Has anybody tried this ? If yes, then how successful has the venture been ? 3. Can I specify somewhere in the Informix setup what tables to cache ?
