Compression at last, all those char(30000), char(8000) tables with only 30 characters in should be a bit quicker now. Shame that database already got migrated to SQLServer. :( So are IBM going to post a performance benchmark now? It looks like there was some work done in this area after reading the paper.
Peter, Didn't you know that if the database says 'Informix' on it, IBM doesn't admit to owning it. So no. No numbers, no benchmarks, no marketing... nothing. Unless you already know about Informix or someone tipped you off to its existence, IBM will only reluctantly admit that it exists and that they support it. Are you sure you don't want to learn more about the latest release of DB2 version 9? ;-) But hey! What do I know? ;-) -G > From: peterpain@gmail.com > Subject: Re: Compression overview... > Date: Thu, 30 Apr 2009 00:07:17 -0700 > To: informix-list@iiug.org > > Compression at last, all those char(30000), char(8000) tables with > only 30 characters in should be a bit quicker now. Peter, There was a good session on this at the conference, by Scott Lashley. Look for it when they post the conference slides. Nick
