This happened to me just the other day. After investigating onconfig and shared memory, I finally looked at my environment variables. Found that I had miss-set the INFORMIXSERVER variable. Was I embarrassed! I'll just call it two-key rollover. Maybe this is obvious, but couldn't hurt to check your environment variables and configuration files.
