The answer - NONE No matter how big the cache I do not believe RAID 5 can beat RAID 10 in any way, and the cache works just as well with RAID 10 The key word here is SELL. Ask them why you cannot have RAID 10. Yes it costs more, but the additional cost is a low proportion of the overall hardware and the extra reliability you get against multiple drive failures is worth the extra cost. When management query the extra cost tell them the data is obviously more important to you than to them or the salesperson. Ask the salesperson if they give a guarantee against multiple drive failures in the same raid set.
