RE: solaris IDS 9.4 wont start after patch install

David- You could have a c program that calls a script that includes something like this: fgrep sqlexec /etc/services > my_test_file if test -s my_test_file then read in1 in2 in3 < my_test_file echo $in2 > my_out_put else echo 0 > my_out_put fi You could have the c program pick up the result in my_out_put, which would contain a 0, if the sqlexec service is not present or the service port (mine returns "1525/tcp"). A similar process should allow you to test a hosts file. --EEM > -----Original Message----- > From: david@smooth1.co.uk [mailto:david@smooth1.co.uk] > Sent: Thursday, December 15, 2005 10:00 PM > To: informix-list@iiug.org > Subject: Re: solaris IDS 9.4 wont start after patch install > > > Does anyone know how I could write code to check the services past of > sqlhosts? > > Something that checks a servicename is valid on the current machine? > What calls does > IDS use to check? > > Same for the hostname?
